I remember raising one these suckers. Too bad I wasn't patient enough to evolve it. Great coloring and shading overall. You did great portraying the expression magikarps always have. That "I swear I'm gonna kill all of you when I evolve" look.

Not sure what kind of crit you want so...

I'll just go ahead and critique the way I usually do. Okay, first of all I can see you used flash to make this. Not something I'd recommend to do art with, but fine. It's kind of difficult to make a decent art piece appear in flash, considering it is built for animation and not one static picture. But I know it's an awesome art tool once you master it. Okay let's get on started.

The first thing I'd like to point out is this pic is certainly lacking in the detail department. It just looks plain and boring, and you wouldn't want that. May I ask what line smoothing option you're using? This factor is very significant if you're using flash. But that's the least of my concerns right now.

Now I'm going to discuss about some mistakes I see regarding anatomy. The way I see it she has one hell of a long neck. I assume you're gonna say, "It's cartoons, it's okay to have distorted anatomy." Although it's cartoons, you still have to know anatomy well before you can know what parts you can distort. It also looks like she has a broken wrist. I can't believe she still hold that metal bat.

Now for the shading. Wait, I can't see any. There is some shading once I focus on it, but it's basically non-existent. The colors you used to do shading are just weak Use more darker and expressive colors that give life to your art. If this was for an animation it would be fine. But the problem is that it's not, it's a complete art piece. It can't stand alone. And why didn't you shade the other parts? Quite odd considering you took the time to shade at all. Why not shade them all? Why do I see no highlights? You have some at the at the hair but you didn't put one on the metal bat. So hair is shinier than metal now?

For the lines, I have to say they look too rushed and unorganized. Like you were in a hurry to draw them and just colored it. Take your time dude. Rushed pics will not result in something good. The bat just looks dreadful. I mean look at that. The lines at the bottom totally makes it look strange. Fix that. Take your time, smooth your lines.

And finally I'll say something about that terrible space of a background. Now it looks totally dead with that empty gray space. You could have made it better with some landscape or scenery. Why did you just put a blank space and call it done? It looks sad without one. Just as I said don't rush. Take your time.

Now I reach my conclusion, I can't seem to find anything admirable in my opinion. You can improve just by making a pic that actually involved some effort and time. You can be great, I can see that. You just need some polishing.
